FAQs
What is the difference between a Big Bang and a Zine?
A Big Bang is a fandom event where writers work on a fanfic and artists collaborate with them to produce art based on that story, these are uploaded to an AO3 collection and on Twitter with a hashtag. Zine’s are put together like a magazine and may be sold for monetary value.
How do I sign up?
We will have an application form posted on June 1st to our Twitter as well as our Carrd. (shinkamibigbang.carrd.co)
Are there age restrictions?
All participants must be over 18.
What accounts do I need?
You’ll need a Twitter account and a Discord account.
How do I participate?
You can be a writer, artist, and/or beta reader.
Writers will need to write a story with a minimum of 6000 words, there is no maximum - so go wild!
Artists will be required to create a minimum of two pieces of art that would be considered completed by their standards since artist's styles differ.
The pieces must be completed by the assigned posting date.
You may also be a beta reader in which we will be in contact for further information.
Are side pairings allowed?
Side/background pairings are perfectly fine, as long as the main focus of your story is ShinKami.
Can I write more than one story?
No, all 6k must be for the same story & only one written entry will be accepted. We will have an option for pitch hitters where you may be asked to do a second piece if someone is to drop out and leave a partner hanging.
Can I be an artist and a writer?
Yes, absolutely! Just keep in mind that you’ll have double the work and still need to make all of the check-ins.
How are we paired up?
Anonymous summaries for stories go up on the 16th/17th of August and artists can pick their top five. Afterwards the mods will assign partners and names will be released. We ask that you maintain open communication with your partners.
Where will the works be posted?
You get to choose where you’d like to post your works. There will be a collection on Ao3 you can add your works to. If you’re posting on social media, please use #shinkamibigbang2020 so we can retweet/reblog your post.
Can I post snippets of my work before the posting date?
No. No screenshots, excerpts, etc. on any social media, please, including other discord servers.
What happens if I need to drop out?
If you need to drop out, please contact a mod as soon as possible so we can re-assign your partner to someone else. It’s normal that things happen, so please don’t hesitate to do this if necessary!
What kind of content is allowed?
Anything is fair game. ShinKami and KamiShin are both allowed, along with polyships, platonic interpretations of the ship, and NSFW content. However, we ask that you bear two things in mind.
One, the legality of said work in the area that you live in.
Two, the comfort of those around you. This event doesn’t have any restrictions on content save for the above (and being a legal adult for NSFW material). We trust that you’re able to judge how certain types of content may impact those around you. If you feel that something could potentially push too far, it might be in your best interest to choose another subject to write about for this event.
What do I need to include in the tags/warnings?
Most importantly, content that would need a major archive warning on Ao3. This includes rape/non-consensual sex, underage content, major character death, and graphic violence. We also ask that you tag any other potentially triggering material: self-harm, pregnancy, incest, dubious content, or anything else you deem necessary of tagging in your work. Also, if your work contains any sexually explicit material, we ask that you tag who tops/bottoms in your work - this is for the artists to sort through their preferences.
